(211) つくづくと軒の雫をながめつつ日をのみ暮らす五月雨の頃

五月の梅雨の時期、私は一日中、軒先の雨粒を眺めながら物思いに耽っています。

During the rainy season in May, I spend the day looking at the raindrops on the eaves, lost in thought.

 

(212) 東屋の小萱が軒の糸水に玉貫きかくる五月雨の頃

五月雨時には、東屋の茅葺の軒から雨水が宝石を貫く糸のように垂れています

When it rains in May, rainwater drips from the thatched eaves of the arbor like a thread running through a jewel.

小萱（おがや）：茅葺

かくる：懸ける。垂れ下げるの意。

 

(213) 五月雨に小田の早苗やいかならん畔の埿土あらひこされて

五月雨に畔の泥土が洗い流されて、田の早苗はどうなったでしょうか

What happened to seedlings in the rice field when the muddy soil on the banks was washed away by the May 

rains?

埿土（うきつち）：泥土。畔をかためた泥

 

(214) 五月雨の頃にしなれば荒小田に人もまかせぬ水たたひけり

五月雨の時期なので荒れた田に人が引いたのでもない水がたたえられています

During the rainy season in May, the barren rice fields are filled with water that was not drawn by humans.

 

(215) 五月雨に干すひまなくて藻塩草煙も立てぬ浦のあま人

五月雨のために藻を干して乾燥させるひまがなくて、浜の人達は藻塩を煮る煙も立てられません

Because of the rain in May, people on the beach don't have time to dry the algae, so they can't even make 

smoke to boil the algae salt.

 

(216) 水無瀬川をちの通路水満ちて舟渡りする五月雨の頃

五月雨の時期は、水無瀬川の対岸への路が川の水に遮られて、舟で渡らなければなりません

During the rainy season in May, the path to the other side of the Minase River is blocked by water, and you 

must cross by boat.

をちの通路（かよいじ）：対岸へ渡渉する路

 

(217) 広瀬川渡りの沖のみをじるし水嵩ぞ深き五月雨の頃

五月雨の時期は、広瀬川渡りための川中の澪標の水位が上がっています

During the rainy season in May, the water level at the river marker for crossing the Hirose River rises.

水嵩（みかさ）

 

(218) 早瀬川つなでの岸を沖に見てのぼりわづらふ五月雨の頃

五月雨の頃は、ボートを引く道は川の速い流れの中に見え、上流に行くのは困難です。

During the May rains, the path to pull the boat appears to be in the fast current of the river, making it difficult 

to get upstream.

 

(219) 水わくる難波堀江のなかりせばいかにかせまし五月雨の頃

水を分ける難波の堀がなければ五月雨の頃にはどうなったことでしょうか

What would have happened in the May rains if there had not been a moat at Naniwa to separate the waters?

(220) 舟すゑしみなとの蘆間棹立てて心ゆくらん五月雨の頃

五月雨の頃、港に生えた蘆の間に棹を立てて舟を留めたので安心です

In the season of May rain, the boat was anchored with a pole among the reeds that grew in the harbor, so it 

must be safe.
