(351) 夜もすがら月こそ袖に宿りけれ昔の秋を思ひ出づれば
夜もすがら月を見ながら昔を思い出して袖の陰で涙にくれました
As I gazed at the moon all night, I
remembered the past and cried under my sleeve.
(352) ながむればほかの影こそゆかしけれ変わらじものを秋の夜の月
秋の夜の月はどこで見ても変らないものですが、眺めていると他所で見る月をゆかしと思ってしまいます
The moon on an autumn night looks the same no matter where you see it, but when I look at it, I can't help
but think that
the moon I saw in other places was more beautiful.
(353) ゆくへなく月に心のすみすみて果てはいかにかならんとすらん
月を見て心はどこまでも澄んでゆく果てはどうなっていくのだろう
Looking at the moon, my heart becomes
clearer and clearer. I wonder what will happen at the end.
(354) 月影のかたぶく山をながめつつ惜しむしるしや有明の空
月が山の端に沈むのを惜しんで眺めているとその甲斐あって、月と共に夜明けを迎えました
I watched with regret as the moon sank
behind the mountain, and it was worth it, as dawn broke with the moon.
(355) ながむるもまことしからぬ心地して世にあまりたる月の影かな
ながめていると現実のものではないような心地がするこの世のものではないような月の影です
When I look at the moon, I feel like it's
not real, it's like an otherworldly shadow of the moon.
(356) 行末の月をば知らず過ぎ来つる秋またかかる影はなかりき
未来の月のことは知りませんが、過ぎ来たった秋にはこのような月影はなかった
I don't know about the moon in the future,
but there was no moon like this in the autumn that has passed.

(357) まこととも誰か思はんひとり見て後に今宵の月を語らば
今夜一人で眺めて、後にこの月のことを誰かに話したら、それが本当だと信じてもらえないかもしれません
If I look at the moon tonight alone and
later tell someone about it, they might not believe it's true.
(358) 月のため昼と思ふがかひなきにしばし曇りて夜をしらせよ
あまりに月が明るくて夜を待ったかいがない。しばし曇って夜の暗さを知らせてほしい
Because the moon is too bright, it is not worth for waiting for the night. I want it to be cloudy for a while and
see how
dark the night is.
(359) 天の原朝日山より出づればや月の光の昼にまがえる
昼かとまがうほどに明るい月は天の朝日山から出たのでしょうか
The moon was so bright that I thought it
was daytime. Was it rising from Mount Asahi in the sky?
(360) 有明の月の頃にしなりぬれば秋は夜なき心地こそすれ
夜明け前に満月が西の空に見えるころになると、夜を通して月明かりで秋は夜がないような心地さえします
When the full moon appears in the western
sky before dawn, the moonlight shines throughout the night, making it feel as
if there is no night in autumn.

(361) なかなかに時々雲のかかるこそ月をもてなす飾りなりけり
時々雲がかかることこそ、かえって月が喜ぶ飾りです
The occasional cloud cover is actually a
joyous decoration for the moon.
(362) 雲晴るる嵐の音は松にあれや月もみどりの色にはえつつ
雲は晴れて嵐は去った。聞こえる音は松に吹く風でしょう。月も松のみどりに映えています
The clouds have cleared and the storm has
passed. The sound I hear is the wind blowing through the pine trees. The moon
is reflected in the green of the pine trees.
(363) さだめなく鳥や鳴くらん秋の夜は月の光を思ひまがいて
鳥は秋の夜の月の光を朝日と思うて、時を定めず鳴くのでしょうか。
Do birds mistake the moonlight on autumn
nights for the morning sun and sing at any time?
(364) 誰もみなことわりとこそ定むらめ昼をあらそふ秋の夜の月
秋の月は昼の明るさと競い、秋は月と誰もが認めるところです。
The autumn moon competes with the
brightness of day, and everyone agrees that autumn is the season for the moon.
(365) 影さえてまことに月の明き夜は心も空にうかれてぞすむ
月影がさえて本当に明るい夜は、心うかれて空にただよいます
On a truly bright night with the moon
shining, I drift in the sky with a joyous feeling.

(366) くまもなき月の面てに飛ぶ雁の影を雲かとまがへつるかな
The shadows of the geese flying across the
face of the full moon are like clouds.
(367) ながむればいなや心の苦しきにいたくな澄みそ秋の夜の月
澄んだ月を眺めていると、我が心の濁りががひどく見苦しく思えるから、秋の夜の月よあまり澄まないでください
When I look at the clear moon, the
cloudiness of my heart seems terrible and unsightly, so please, the moon of
autumn nights, does not be too clear.
(368) 雲も見ゆ風もふくれば荒くなるのどかなりつる月の光を
雲があらわれ風が強くなると、のどかな月の光も荒くなります
When the clouds come and the wind gets
stronger, the tranquil moonlight becomes turbulent.
(369) もろともに影を並ぶる人もあれや月の洩りくる笹の庵に
月明かりが差し込む笹葺きの小屋で、影を共にしてくれる人がいたらいいのに。
I wish I had someone to share the shadow with me in the hut thatched by bamboo grass where the moonlight
pours in.
(370) なかなかに曇ると見えて晴るる夜の月は光のそふ心地する
曇ると見えてかえって晴れる夜は月の光が身にそう心地がします
On nights that appear cloudy but are
actually clear, the moonlight feels accompanying me.

(371) うき雲の月の面にかかれどもはやく過ぐるはうれしかりけり
Even though the floating clouds were on the
moon's surface, it was a joy to see them pass by so quickly.
うき：「憂き」および「浮き」
(372) 過ぎやらで月近くゆくうき雲のただよふ見るはわびしかりけり
月近くに雲が過ぎ去ることなく漂うのを見るのはわびしいことです
It is sad to see clouds drifting near the
moon without ever passing by.
(373) 厭へどもさすがに雲のうち散りて月のあたりを離れざりけり
雲をいくら厭うても、雲は散りこそすれ月の近くからは離れません
No matter how much we hate the clouds, they
may scatter, but they never leave the moon's vicinity.
(374) 雲はらふあらしに月のみがかれて光得て澄む秋の空かな
雲を散らす嵐によって月が磨かれ、秋の空が明るくなります
The moon is polished by the storm that
scatters the clouds, and the autumn sky get bright.
(375) くまもなき月の光をながむればまづ姥捨の山ぞ恋しき
澄んだ月を眺めていると、まず姥捨の山々が懐かしくなります
When I look at the clear moon, the first
thing that comes to my mind is nostalgia for the mountains of Ubasute.

(376) 月冴ゆる明石の瀬戸に風ふけばこほりの上にたたむ白波
月が冴える明石の瀬戸に風が吹けば氷の上に白波が打ち重なるようです
When the wind blows through the Akashi Strait under the clear moon, it looks like white waves are crashing
onto
the ice.
こほり：海面に映る月光を氷に見立てている。
(377) 天の原おなじ岩戸を出づれども光ことなる秋の夜の月
どの月も同じ天の岩戸を出るのだが秋の夜の月の光は別格です
Every moon shines through the same cave in the sky, but the light of the moon on an autumn night is
something special.
(378) かぎりなく名残り惜しきは秋の夜の月にともなふ曙の空
私が最も名残惜しく思うのは、秋の夜の月が浮かぶ夜明けの空です。
What I miss most is the dawn sky with the
moon of the autumn night.
九月十三夜
(379) 今宵はと心得顔にすむ月の光もてなす菊の白露
今宵こそはとすまし顔の月の光は、菊の花の上の白い露に迎えられます
The moon's light, with its smug face, is
greeted by the white dew on the chrysanthemum flowers.
九月十三日：後の名月。八月十五日の名月と並び称される。旧暦の9月13日は新暦の10月15日、菊の花の盛んな時期にあたる。
(380) 雲消えし秋のなかばの空よりも月は今宵ぞ名に負へりける
雲が消えた。中秋の月より今宵の月こそ名月の名に恥じないでしょう
The clouds have disappeared. Tonight's moon
is more worthy of the name of a harvest moon than the mid-autumn moon.
