(101) 見る人に花も昔を思ひでて恋しかるべき雨にしほるる

貴方が見ていると花も昔を恋しく思い、涙を流して雨に濡れます。

When you look at the flowers, they also miss the past, shed tears, and get wet in the rain.

(102) いにしへを忍ぶる雨と誰か見ん花もその世の友しなければ

若き人々ばかりなん。老いにける身は風のわづらはしさに厭はるる事にて、とありける、やさしく聞えけり

私にはそのころの花も友もいないのですから、私が雨を見て昔を偲んでいると誰がおもうでしょうか。

I don't have any flowers or friends from those days, so who would think that I look at the rain and remember the past?

 

　　　　雨の降りけるに、花の下にて車立ててながめける人に

(103) 濡るるとも蔭をたのみて思ひけん人の跡踏む今日にもあるかな

昔の人のように濡れても花の蔭をたのみにする人が今日にもいるのですね

There are people today who, like people in the past, seek the shade of flowers even when they get wet.

跡踏む：古人を見習う

 

世を遁れて東山に侍りけるころ、白川の花ざかりに人さそひければ、まかりて、帰りて昔思ひ出でて

(104) 散るを見て帰る心や桜花昔にかはるしるしなるらん

桜の花が散るのを見て帰る心は、昔とは違うように思えます

The feeling of returning home after watching the cherry blossoms fall seems different from before.

 

(105) 散り初むる花の初雪降りぬれば踏み分けま憂き滋賀の山越

初雪のように舞い始めた花々を踏むのを残念に思いながら、志賀に向けて山を越えていきます

I cross the mountains toward Shiga, feeling sorry for stepping on the flowers that have begun to fall like the 

first snow.

(106) 勅とかや下す帝のいませかしさらばおそれて花や散らぬと

花に勅を出してくださる帝がおられたら、花もおそれて散らないでしょう

If there was an emperor who issued an edict to the flowers, the flowers would not scatter in fear.

 

(107) 浪もなく風ををさめし白川の君の折りもや花は散りけん

浪は静かに風は平和に治められていた白河院の時代でも花は散っていただろう

The flowers would have fallen even in the days of Shirakawa-in, when the waves were calm and the winds were 

peaceful.

 

(108) いかで我この世のほかの思ひ出に風をいとはで花をながめん

どうか私のあの世での思い出に、風を気にしないで花をながめたいものです

Please, for my memories in the afterlife, I want to be able to look at flowers without worrying about the wind.

 

(109) 年を経て待つも惜しむも山桜心を春は尽くすなりけり

年を経るにしたがって、咲くを待つのも、散るを惜しむも春は心を満たしてくれます

As the years go by, whether I wait for the flowers to bloom or grieve for them to fall, spring will fill my heart.

 

(110) 吉野山谷へたなびく白雲は峰の桜の散るにやあるらん

吉野の山々の谷間に白い雲がたなびいて、まるで峰の桜が散るかのようです

White clouds hang over the valleys of the Yoshino mountains, making it look as if the cherry blossoms on the 

peaks are falling.
